Upper Extremity Ultrasound Injection Course

In this CME-accredited in-person MSK ultrasound training course, we teach you how to use musculoskeletal injection as part of the ultrasound imaging technique to provide real-time, high-resolution visualization of the musculoskeletal system, particularly the joints of the knee, shoulder, and hip.

This course offers a dynamic learning experience by combining lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on training to help participants become proficient in ultrasound-guided injection techniques to help their patients manage both musculoskeletal pain and disorders related to the knee, hip, and shoulder.

MSK Upper Extremity Ultrasound Course Objectives

The course objectives allow participants to:

Gain an understanding of the principles of ultrasound physics, as well as fluency in utilizing the instrumentation and imaging techniques relevant to MSK ultrasounds
Identify both normal and Upper Extremity pathological anatomy of the knee, shoulder, and hip joints through the use of ultrasound imaging
Perform MSK ultrasounds and administer extremity nonspinal injection treatments, like platelet-rich plasma therapy, for common musculoskeletal conditions which affect the knee, shoulder, and hip joints
Implement best practices in safety and patient care during MSK ultrasounds and interventional pain management injections

MSK Upper Extremity Ultrasound Course Agenda

This Upper Extremity ultrasound course begins with registration and breakfast, followed by the beginning of the course.

Introduction to Ultrasound Technology

In this segment, participants will learn about the history of ultrasound technology and the Upper Extremitys of the machine settings.

Introduction to MSK Joint Extremity Non-Spinal Ultrasounds

In this segment, participants learn about the specifics of an MSK joint extremity non-spinal ultrasound, including:

LOWER EXTREMITY MSK ULTRASOUND ESSENTIALS COURSE (DAY TWO = 8 HRS CME)

The Lower Extremity course builds on the ultrasound fundamentals while adding additional training on joint evaluations for:

By the end of this hands-on training, participants will be able to integrate these Lower Extremity techniques into their clinical practice to optimize patient outcomes.

In addition, you will also receive presentations on PRP therapy basics and a Spotlight Talk on Hip and Knee Pain Treatment with Regenerative Biologics.

LOWER EXTREMITY MSK ULTRASOUND ESSENTIALS COURSE OBJECTIVES

By the end of this single-day course, participants will:

Enhance their knowledge of the specifics of MSK ultrasound operations, as well as the instrumentation and Lower Extremity imaging techniques
Demonstrate proficiency in identifying both normal and pathological anatomy through the use of ultrasound imaging
Perform Lower Extremity ultrasound diagnostic and therapeutic interventional pain injection

MSK LOWER EXTREMITY COURSE AGENDA

Like the Upper Extremity course, this course begins with registration and breakfast, which is an opportunity to network with other participants.

The segments covered include the following:

Review of Anatomy

Each of these sections allows participants to learn relevant anatomical structures of each of these body parts that are visible on ultrasound as well as how to administer interventional pain injections to each area.

Ultrasound Evaluation

During ultrasound evaluation, participants gain an understanding of what a normal ultrasound of each body part should look like, as well as how to perform a standardized review of each joint and its important anatomical structures, like nerves and ligaments.

Ultrasound Evaluation of Anatomical Pathology

After learning about normal anatomy, participants learn about pathological evaluations of these joints in order to assess damage and measure and diagnose pathology.

Hands-On Scanning

The final portion is hands-on training, where participants receive dynamic experience performing diagnostic and interventional ultrasound techniques. Participants will have an opportunity to perform extremity nonspinal injections, as well as interventional pain management injections.
